Welcome to the Victorian Bushfire Disaster Furniture and Photo Register
We are a group of Whittlesea women who have found ourselves surrounded by the tragedy that is the Victorian Bushfires. Our community has been devastated by this natural disaster and in the face of such suffering and loss, we have thrown ourselves into the relief effort.
We have established two projects to assist those affected by the fires. The first, a furniture register website, aims to meet the immediate needs of the fire affected families as they move into temporary accommodation. The second project hopes to replace treasured photos that were lost in the tragic events of Saturday the 7th February 2009.
This site is set up and maintained by a local family for the exclusive use of fire affected people. The hosting of the site has been donated. No money is requested. This site exists purely as a register of available household items so that affected families can resume some sort of normal life as soon as possible.

The Disaster Help Site Furniture Register was set up to provide practical assistance to those affected by the Victorian Bushfires. People whose homes were destroyed or extensively damaged need furniture for their rental accommodation as they start to rebuild their lives. Beds, couches, dining tables and chairs, chests of drawers, storage, fridges, microwaves, washing machines, televisions, DVDs etc. All items should be in good condition, clean and fully functional. Ideally, the items remain with you until required, but if storage is a problem, collection can be arranged. When a request is made for your donation, you will be contacted and arrangements made for a volunteer to collect and deliver it to where it is needed. If you think you can help, either with donations of furniture or assisting with deliveries, we would love to hear from you.

The Lost Photo Appeal Project has been created to try to replace, as much as possible, family photos lost in the fires. To assist us in this task we ask that people who are in any way connected to those in the fire zone- former neighbours from years ago, old boyfriends and girlfriends, past workmates etc., to look through your old photo albums and find any pictures that feature, or would be of special significance to, the fire affected families. Holiday snaps, photos of their childhood home, 21st birthday parties etc. Then register with us to participate in this worthwhile venture. We will collect, collate and compile a disk for each ‘fire survivor’ who registers with us. We will give them two copies of their disk - one to leave with a relative or friend as insurance. We hope that this will ease some of the heartache experienced by these families.
